Intensity vs. Strength — What's the Difference?

Intensity is a measure of how concentrated or powerful an activity, sensation, or characteristic is. It can apply to various contexts, such as physical effort, emotional experiences, or electromagnetic radiation, indicating the degree of force or energy applied or experienced. On the other hand, strength refers to the ability or capacity of an object, person, or material to withstand stress, pressure, or force without breaking, yielding, or failing. It emphasizes durability, resilience, and the potential to exert force or power effectively.

Intensity is often quantified or described in terms of levels, scales, or magnitudes, reflecting how strong, concentrated, or severe something is. For example, the intensity of a workout could be high due to heavy weights or fast pace, whereas the intensity of an emotion could be profound, affecting one's behavior or state deeply. Meanwhile, strength is measured or assessed based on the maximum force that can be exerted, the amount of weight that can be lifted, or the degree of resistance offered against force.
