The uterus (from Latin "uterus", plural uteri) or womb () is a major female hormone-responsive, secondary sex organ of the reproductive system in humans and most other mammals. Things occurring in the uterus are described with the term in utero.

A displacement forward of an organ, esp. the uterus, in such manner that its axis is bent upon itself.

A hollow muscular organ located in the pelvic cavity of female mammals in which the fertilized egg implants and develops. Also called womb.

A corresponding part in other animals.
